Hey...How's it goin'?

So I got a Blogger. This kind of thing goes down every two to three years for me. My Xanga lasted for like two years, so maybe this one will outlast that. The title came from The Wonder Years song "Solo and Chewy: Holdin' It Down"...see what I did there? Man, I set up an AWESOME sake way for what I wanted to talk about: MUSIC!!!

MUSIC
The Wonder Years new album leaked like two or three weeks ago and I got it. After hearing the album, the next $50 I get, I'm going to preorder it on blue vinyl with a hoodie package deal ya know? It's only the first month into 2010 and I can already tell "The Upsides" might be my album of the year. I've been listening to a ton of Good Riddance lately too. Such a great band and such a shame they broke up. Drive Thru records circa 2000-2003 has been frequently played on the ipod and itunes. Finch, Senses Fail, The Early November, and Homegrown. Some new bands I've been into that are picking up steam are Energy, Comadre, and Title Fight. Energy is on Bridge Nine and they're a hardcore punk band out of MA. Now, this should surprise people because everyone knows how much I can't stand half of Bridge Nine's roster, although they did clean it up a bit by signing Strike Anywhere. Energy reminds me of Good Riddance mixed with Strike Anywhere actually. Comadre are mad tight with Broadway Calls. My buddy Jacob got me into Comadre with this AWESOME youtube video of a kid bodyboarding on top of some people at one of their shows. Comadre is on point. I've had their album for a while now, and I've only recently been killing it. Title Fight are these kids out of PA that know what's good. They're like New Found Glory mixed with Have Heart or some other Bridge Nine band. Just hard enough, yet you can still understand what they're saying. I saw these kids with The Wonder Years and Bracewar at the Soapbox in Wilmington, NC. Title Fight keeps it real. My sources tell me that Epitaph might be picking them up, which would be a pretty tight fit for them with Set Your Goals and New Found Glory being there.

Life
Things have been looking up. After applying at different non-profits up and down the Eastern Seaboard, I finally have an interview at one here in Norfolk. Junior Achievements of Greater Hampton Roads thinks I'm qualified to become the Director of Development for their office in Norfolk, so I'm real excited. Hopefully something will work out with it.

I went to church for the first time in a year this past Sunday. It was pretty solid. I enjoy the people at Christ's Fellowship in Portsmouth. They've got an open heart looking to help people in need, whatever that need is. They're not even trying to convert heathens or anything, they just like to help. Solid teachings by the people who lead it and a heartfelt passion for what they do. I really am going to make more of an effort to go on Sundays. I think it might be what's been missing for about a year.

My dog makes me smile. I never knew that a little animal like her could make me happy like that. It kind of caught me off guard. I mean, don't get me wrong, Allena makes me happy too, it's just I never thought a dog could do that to me. Hopefully when I find a job I can afford rent somewhere that has a fenced in yard and she can run around all day.

I never thought being in a serious relationship would be so tedious. When people care more, they get hurt easier and it shows in my relationship with Allena. I mean, all relationships have their ups and downs, and right now we're looking up. She's so good to me. She's just a girl, and the differences and mindsets of girls and boys are TOO DIFFERENT. I guess it's a work in progress with that sort of thing.

So this blog is going to be used for stuff like I just wrote as well as epiphanies that come to me as well as stories and anecdotes that happen to me in my daily life. Like I said earlier, hopefully this one will last longer than the Xanga.
